AMWJU organises 13th annual sports meet

Imphal, March 12 2023: As part of the Yaoshang festival, All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) organised its 13th annual sports meet from March 7 to 13 .

The inaugural function of the sports meet was held at Manipur Press Club after getting the torch lit with the sacred flame from Kangla.

The torch rally from Kangla was led by IPR minister Dr Sapam Ranjan, BIPL Imphal managing director Ningombam Ibochouba and AMWJU president Wangkhemcha Shyamjai along with members of AMWJU.

Speaking at the inaugural function, minister Dr Sapam Ranjan commended conduct of the annual sports meet of AMWJU as it provides the platform to media persons of the state to take out some time from their hectic schedule and engage in sports activities, exchange ideas and showcase their sporting talents.

The five day sports meet had competitions in athletics, volleyball, table tennis, badminton, chess, cricket and football.

The events were held at Khuman Lampak, MBA Indoor Stadium in DM University campus, Manipur Press Club, Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium and the artificial turf ground at Lamlong.

Prizes were also distributedto winners of team and individual events.
