Imphal, April 10 2025:
Mohun Bagan Super Giant and Manipur's Classic FA secured convincing victories in their respective semifinals of the Reliance Foundation Development League (RFDL) 2024-25, setting up a much-anticipated final clash at Reliance Corporate Park, Mumbai, on April 14 .
The first semifinal, Mohun Bagan cruised to a 5-1 win over Jamshedpur FC, despite conceding early to a 13th-minute strike by Bivan Jyoti Laskar.
Sahil Inamdar quickly equalised with a header, and goals from Loitongbam Taison Singh, Serto Worneilen Kom (brace), and substitute Shibam Munda sealed a dominant performance for the Kolkata side.
The second semifinal saw Classic FA deliver a commanding performance to defeat FC Goa 3-0, setting up title clash with Mohun Bagan Super Giant.
Classic FA began the match with intent, asserting control from the outset.
Their early dominance was rewarded in the 30th minute when Md Arbash's corner created a scramble inside the box.
The loose ball fell to Punit Thangjam, who struck it first-time to open the scoring.
Before FC Goa could recover, Arbash struck again with another precise corner delivery - this time curling the ball directly into the net to score a stunning Olympic goal, catching the goalkeeper off guard.
Classic FA entered the break with a comfortable 2-0 lead.
FC Goa showed more attacking intent in the second half, pressing higher and forcing the Classic FA defence into deeper positions.
However, they were unable to convert possession into goals, lacking precision in the final third.
The result was sealed in the 78th minute when Ningthoukhongjam Rishi Singh capitalised on a defensive lapse, calmly taking a touch and finishing from the edge of the area to make it 3-0 .
With this convincing victory, Classic FA - widely regarded as the dark horses of the tournament - will now face Mohun Bagan Super Giant in the final on April 14, 2025, at Reliance Corporate Park in Mumbai.
