H Somokanta wins DCA rapid chess title

Imphal, May 12 2024: Haobam Somokanta won the 4th DCA Rapid Chess Tournament title on Sunday.

Somokanta secured six points to claim the championship title of the two-day tournament organised by D Chess Academy, Uripok Khoisnam Leikai.

Elangbam Shashikanta Singh collected five points to finish second while RK Bhogen Singh was third.

Maibam Dorendro Singh got bent veteran prize for getting three points.

On the other hand, Lemba Sougaija-ni and Yaikhomba Huidrom were first and second in the U15 boys category; Astha Pot-sangbam and Nongthombam Anjelena Charm secured first and second places in the U15 girls category; Mangai Elangbam and Yaingamba Yumnam took first and second spots in the U10 boys category; and Nongthombam Jojo Charm and Luching Loitongbain finished first and second in the U10 girls category.

Khoisnam Kinison Singh won the best D Chess Academy player.

Leirikhomba Mangang and Lingjellei-ma Thokchom received the youngest boys' and youngest girls' prizes.

The prize distribution cum closing function was attended by Tourangbam Indrajit Singh, councillor Ward No.6 Uripok as chief guest, Laitonjam Jala-jit Singh, secretary KHLYDC as guest of honour, and Yumnam Gene, president Organizing Committee as president, according to a press release from the academy.
