Imphal, April 04 2025:
UPAA romped past Elite FA 5-1, while YPHU eked out a 1-0 success against Milan FA in the 17th Manipur State League clashes at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong, on Friday.
Konsam Angamba Meitei was the standout performer for UPAA, netting twice in a dominant display that left Elite FA struggling to contain their attacking prowess.
Angamba opened the scoring in the 14th minute, setting the tone for a one-sided affair.
Laishram Binoy Singh extended the lead in the 26th minute, before Yensembam Umkanta Singh added a third just before half-time, sending UPAA into the break with a comfortable 3-0 advantage.
The second half saw no respite for Elite FA, as Angamba struck again in the 60th minute to make it 4-0 .
Ngangom Peter then compounded their misery with UPAA's fifth in the 72nd minute.
Elite FA managed a late consolation through Khuraijam Sinthoiba in the 83rd minute, but it was little more than a footnote in what was otherwise a comprehensive victory for UPAA.
In contrast, the day's other fixture was a far tighter affair, with YPHU grinding out a 1-0 win against a resilient Milan FA.
The decisive moment came early, as Manuhormayum Kabiraj Sharma found the net in the 18th minute.
Despite Milan FA's efforts to claw their way back into the game, YPHU's defence held firm to secure all three points in a match that showcased both determination and tactical discipline.
