Imphal, August 21 2025: A felicitation ceremony was held at Mayang Imphal Bazaar Marriage Hall, organised by Helping Our People Everywhere (HOPE), to honour Manipur's judo coaches and athletes who represented India at the Cadet and Junior Judo Championship 2025 held in Chinese Taipei from July 13 to 17 .

The event acknowledged the contribution of Khaidem Gunamani Meitei, head coach (Judo), NSA Manipur, Olympian and national referee; and Amom Surjit Meitei, Judo coach in charge, YAS Manipur, technical chairman of MJA, international judo coach and referee.

Both served as part of India's coaching team at the prestigious tournament.

The ceremony was attended by Laishram Sarita, SP Sports, Manipur Police Department, and Laishram Bijendra Singh, president of HOPE, along with a large gathering of well-wishers.

India secured an impressive medal haul at the championship, with its cadet judokas winning 12 medals and the juniors clinching 14 - a total of 26, including 6 gold, 4 silver and 4 bronze.

Manipur contributed significantly, earning 2 gold and 3 silver medals.

Looking ahead, Kh Gunamani Meitei has once again been selected as one of India's coaches for the Asian Judo Championship to be held in Jakarta, Indonesia, from September 11 to 14, 2025 .
