2nd H Biramangol Memorial Trophy : AKSDO thrash Blue Hawk by 180 runs to bolster quarterfinal hopes

AKSDO, Khangabok are on the brink of qualifying the quarterfinals of the 2nd MNCA U-23 Men's Haobam Biramangol Memorial Trophy 2024-25 as they trounced Blue Hawk, Khurai by 180 runs for the third Group D win in four matches.
With the win, AKSDO dislodged TCMDC, Thongju from the second spot of the Group D table with a better Net Run Rate (2.050 against 1.714 for TCMDC who have played all five matches) although they are on the same 6 points.
They still have a match left to play against.
THAU, Thangmeiband and a win or a close marginal loss will be enough for them to finish Group runners up behind runaway leaders PCC, Mayaikoibi, who have won five of five group stage matches.
Put in to pat first, AKSDO amassed a mammoth total of 310 runs for 7 wickets in the allotted 40 overs and bundled out Blue Hawk for 130 runs in 30.4 overs riding on a concerted bowling effort.
Laishram Akash 75 off 57 (11 fours and 3 sixes) and Laishram Samson 53 off 38 (8 fours and 1 six) struck half centuries for ASKDO as Khundrakpam Borish 42 not out off 54 (4 fours), Bishorjit 37 off 35 (3 fours and 2 sixes), Ningthoujam Sanayai 34 off 30 (4 fours) and Saikom Lanchenba 30 off 16 (3 fours) made significant scores.
The innings saw Nandakishor (2/40) and H Samsung (2/60) of Blue Hawk sharing four wickets as Dp Saheer and Moirangthem Romesh picked a wicket apiece.
For Blue Hawk, Nitish 31 off 38 and Khunjamayum Nongdamba 26 off 64 emerged leading run getters as 6 batters ended up collecting single digit or no run as N Sanayai (3/21 in 6 overs), L Akash (2/32 in 5 overs) and L Rohit (2/33 in 5.4 overs) led the AKSDO bowling attack.
Akash, who produced an all round show, was adjudged player of the match.
The day also saw PTCC, Patsoi Part III and PTRC, Patsoi Part IV stretching winning runs while KSDO, Kyamgei ended their two game losing streak.
At Moijing Public Ground, PTCC sealed their second Group A win in three matches by beating YPHUC, Lalambung by 5 wickets.
Opting to bat first, YPHU were bundled out for just 80 runs in 21.5 overs as Loukrakpam Anao (5/19 in 6.5 overs) and Tongbram Devas (3/19 in 4 overs) wreaked havoc before Somobanta 21 off 27, M Dominic 13 not out off 23 and Naorem Dhirendrakishore 13 not out off 16 set up the victory for PTCC.
Anao was adjudged player of the match.
Elsewhere at Lairenjam Public Ground, KSDO ended their two game Group C losing streak by beating SHADOW, Thangmeiband by 26 runs.
Put in to bat first, KSDO were bowled out for 178 runs in 34.1 overs despite significant contributions from Md Arif Khan 46 off 50, Md Gunbas 47 off 55 and Md Shah Jahan 36 off 48 before bowling out SHADOW for 152 runs in 34.3 overs riding on leading bowling performances from Khutheibam Abu Sufiyan (3/36 in 7 overs) and Md Shah Jahan (2/17 in 7 overs) .
Abu Sufiyan was adjudged player of the match.
Meanwhile at Model Hr Sec and Oriental College Ground, PTRC sealed their third Group C victory in four matches by thrashing FORCE, Kshetrigao by 8 wickets.
Opting to bat first, Juma Khan 51 off 47 emerged the only notable batter for FORCE as the team got bundled out for 129 runs in 26.4 overs after opting to bat first.
PTRC's Pheiroijam Tamarland (3/18) and Paonam Henba (2/25) shared a bulk of 5 wickets in this innings as four others picked a wicket apiece before Naoshekpam Ngambarel 67 not out off 69 (12 fours) and Salam Richie (30 off 29) steer the team to the target in 21.4 overs with 8 wickets left to spare.
N Ngambarel was adjudged player of the match.
