MNCA Elite: PTCC register 45-run triumph over ESU

Imphal, February 28 2025: PTCC delivered an all-round performance ESU by 45 runs in a gripping league encounter of the Elite Tournament 2024-25 at Lairenjam Public Ground on Friday.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, PTCC posted a competitive 203/9 in their 40 overs, a total their bowlers defended resolutely to restrict ESU to 158/9.PTCC's innings was anchored by opener Paonam Champion Singh, who topscored with a patient 64 off 100 balls (5 fours), providing stability amidst early wobbles.

Contributions from Hijam Hemachandra Singh (27 off 42) and a blistering cameo by Dominic Moirangthem (37 off 14, 4 fours, 2 sixes) propelled the total past 200 .

Late fireworks from Sohail Akram (21* off 6) further boosted the run rate.

ESU's bowling attack struggled for consistency, though Chongtham Mehul Shreth (2/51) and Thokchom Nishikanta Singh (1/19 off 8 overs) stood out.

Three run-outs and a costly spell from Lourembam Dipu Singh (1/31 in 2 overs) highlighted PTCC's aggressive intent.

In reply, ESU's innings never gained momentum, crumbling to 95/7 by the 28th over.

A defiant 55* off 73 balls from Sagolshem Ronal Meitei offered resistance, but regular wickets stifled progress.

PTCC's Naorem Victor Meitei (3/29) and skipper Gemson Mutum (1/25) applied pressure, while Sadananda Okram (2/25) cleaned up the tail.

ESU's top order faltered early, losing Sanatomba (1) and Chongtham Mehul Shreth (15) inside seven overs.

Despite a brief partnership between M Bimananda Singh (22) and Ronal Meitei, the middle order collapsed under disciplined bowling.

PTCC's total proved insurmountable as ESU finished at 158/9, handing PTCC a decisive 45-run win.
