YWC, RULE, YUCC and CYCLONE script convincing wins in 1st MNCA U-23 Men's Tournament

YWC, Langthabal; RULE, Meitram; YUCC, Kwakeithel Moirang Purel Leikai and CYCLONE, Thangmeiband notched up convincing victories in today's matches of the ongoing 1st MNCA U-23 Men's Haobam Biramangol Singh Memorial Tournament 2023-24 .
In a Group B match staged at Khangabok Cherapur Public Ground, YWC rode on collective batting brilliance to tame THAU, Thangmeiband by 268 runs and start their league campaign on a bright note.
Put in to bat first, YWC amassed a huge total of 353 runs for 8 wickets courtesy of commendable half century knocks from Maibam Subash (47-ball 82), Soubam Robinson (36-ball 67) and Seram Robinson (37-ball 51) .
Even though the total was big, the team suffered a few hiccups with Khumukcham Romesh snaring four wickets on the way to his 4/52 and Khundrakpam Aden picking up two wickets (2/60) .

Shinoj Khwairakpam and Rajkumar Thapa were also among the wickets for THAU.
In reply, THAU were taken by surprise as YWC bowlers produced impeccable performances to bundle them out for just 85 runs within 28.4 overs.
Only Pukhrambam Hilbert 34 and Shinoj Khwairakpam 17 had the chance to score double digit runs for the team before they folded up the chase with the meagre total.
Yenshembam Vivek returned with the best bowling figures of 4/12 in his spell of 5.4 overs for YWC as Yumnam Athouba (3/14 in 4 overs) and Heisnam Manikanta (2/21 in 6 overs) shared five wickets and Yumnam Chingkhei Nganba picked one (1/7 in 5 overs) .
YWC skipper M Subash who led the batting charge was adjudged player of the match.
In a Group A match staged at Moijing Public Ground, Thoubal RULE, Meitram opened their campaign with a 100-run thrashing of PTRC, Patsoi Part IV.
Opting to bat first RULE faced a stiff opposition from PTRC bowlers and despite Pheiroijam Jotin (4/12) and Paonam Henba (4/50) sharing 8 wickets, Sanjenbam Suresh stood tall to add 111 runs off 122 balls to help RULE post 192 runs for 9 wickets in 40 overs.
The total proved too big for PTRC as they slumped to 92 all out in 22.4 overs with Kangjam Boocker running riot to securing 5 wickets alone (5/24 in 7.4 overs) with the assistance of Sanjenbam Ananda (2/16 in 4 overs) and Sanjenbam Somokanta (2/7 in 3 overs) .
Only Jotin 34 and Laitonjam James 20 found their names on the scoresheet with double digit figures in the chase as 8 others fell easy prey to RULE bowlers.
Boocker who starred with a fifer and led RULE to the victory was adjudged player of the match.
Elsewhere at Model Hr Secondary School and Oriental College playground YUCC, Kwakeithel Moirang Purel Leikai thumped IBSA, Yumnam Leikai by 5 wickets for their second straight Group C victory.
YUCC bundled out IBSA, who opted to bat first, for 155 runs in 32.4 overs riding on Moirangthem Kadamjit (4/32 in 7.4 overs), Nongthombam Devraj (4/32 in 8 overs) and Laishram Somraj (2/34 in 5 overs) and chased down the target (157/5) with five wickets left to spare courtesy of an unbeaten half century from Laishram Bidyashwor (69-ball 53) and a significant 38 from Ningthoujam Rohit.
After a stuttering start, K Nelson 30, L Ansh 39 and Rajababu 25 gave IBSA some hope but their departure marked the downfall of the innings as the remaining order failed to stand the YUCC pressure.
For IBSA, Pravesh managed two wickets as L Ansh, K Nelson and Rajababu picked a wicket apiece.
Nongthombam Devraj was declared player of the match.
Meanwhile in the Group D match staged at Lairenjam Public Ground, CYCLONE posted 235 for 9 wickets in 40 overs and dismissed YPHUC, Lalambung for 89 runs within 29.3 overs to seal a huge 146 run victory.
It was the second straight win for CYCLONE who won the toss and opted to bat first today before raising 235 thanks to Aditya Prasad 40, Aditya Das 37, A Ronald 19, M Rohit 18, Donny 18 and Maverick Wakambam 17 .
The innings saw Irom Ishor (2/25), Bishworaj Sharma (2/40), Irom Sunny (2/48) and Ng Krishnakanta (2/52) sharing 8 wickets for YPHUC who slumped to 89 all out as Thomsan Moirangthem (5/23), H Samsung (2/6) and Aditya Das (2/20) wreaked havoc across their batting line up .
