1st district level sports meet for girls and women concludes

Noney, February 21 2025:
The 1st district level sports meet for girls and women organized by District Administration Noney in collaboration with ICDS Cell, DSA Noney and One Stop Centre Noney, in connection with the celebration of 10 years of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, concluded today amidst great fanfare.
The event, which was held at Longmai Common ground Noney district Hqrs saw enthusiastic participation from women and girls from across the district.

The closing event was graced by Stiff Khapudang ADM Noney; Athui Gonmei, president Rongmei Naga Luh Phwam Manipur (RNLPM) Longmai Luamgrian; Poujailung Gonmei vice-president DSA Noney as chief guest, guest of honour and functional president respectively.
In his speech, Stiff Khapudang said that the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative, which was launched in 2015, to address the declining child sex ratio and promote girls' education has made significant strides in promoting women's empowerment and challenging societal norms that discriminate against girls over the years.
Notably the sports competition featured two disciplines namely volleyball and football.
Dolang Village Chiru Students' Union emerged champions of the volleyball and football events as Pongringlong Charoipandongba village and Karuangmuan-1, village of Haochong sub division finished runners up in volleyball and football.
Kagangailiu of Karuangmuan-1, Catherine Thanga of Dolang Chiru Students' Union (DCSU) and B Ruby of Karuangmuan-1, were adjudged best player, highest scorer and best goalkeeper of the football competition.
The closing ceremony saw distribution of prizes and awards to the winners of the events.
The chief guest, Stiff Khapudang, congratulated the participants and winners, emphasizing the importance of sports in promoting women's empowerment and challenging stereotypes.
