Imphal, May 19 2024: Fm Sharif hit a half century and picked four wickets to hand KASC, Khomidok a convincing 102 run victory over PTCC, Patsoi Part III in a Group D encounter of the 1st MNCA U-23 Haobam Biramangol Singh Memorial Tournament at Khangabok Cherapur Public Ground.

PTCC won the toss and put in KASC to bat first.

KASC despite a sloppy start posted a total of 224 runs for 9 wickets in 30 overs riding on an unbeaten 41-ball 69 from Fm Sharif , 43 from Washim Akram and 31 from Md Babu and successfully bundled out PTCC for 122 runs in 22.4 overs to seal the huge win.

KASC had a stuttering start to their innings losing top orders cheaply in regular intervals with Devas Tongbram and Dominic Moirangthem sharing two wickets apiece to reduce the team struggling at 65/4 in 11.1 overs.

PTCC's Somobanta piled further misery on KASC removing Md Shahir Khan (7), Mustaque (0) and Md Rahis Khan (0) all in the 15th over to reduce them to 89/7 .

Washim Akram who came in at 5 looked dangerous on for a while to keep the scoreboard ticking but Somobanta returned to undone him on 43 for the 8th wicket and complete his haul of 4 wickets (4/53 in 6 overs) .

Md Babu and Fm Sharif however gave KASC a late flourish by forging an 89-run partnership for the 9th wicket to take KASC from 118/8 after 18.3 overs to 207 before Babu was bowled out for 31 runs by Andy Mandingbam for the 9th wicket in the 1st delivery of the 29th over.

Fm Sharif was unbeaten on 69 off 41 balls with Md Abdullah on 2 as the innings came to an end at 224/9 .

In reply, PTCC faced stiff resistance from KASC bowlers and collapsed within 22.4 overs with a meagre total of 122 runs.

Dominic Moirangthem's 24-ball 30 was the most significant score by any PTCC batter in the innings as five of the five KASC bowlers found themselves among the wickets.

Fm Sharif, who earlier hit a half century, returned with the best bowling figures of 4/21 in 5.4 overs and eventually walked away with the man of the match accolade.

Md Rahis Khan (2/19) and Md Shahir Khan (2/11) in the meantime shared four wickets as Md Babu and Afjal Khan picked a wicket apiece.

Elsewhere at Lairenjam Public Ground, Al-Ameen opened their Group stage (B) winning account by registering an 11 run victory over THAU, Thangmeiband after being bowled out for 127 runs in 20 overs by THAU.

Md Sharoz Khan 33 and Naeem 37 led the scoring for Al-Ameen in their innings that saw Barun (3/13), Khundrakpam Aden (2/22) and Shinoj Khwairakpam (2/25) of THAU sharing 7 wickets.

In reply, Hanjabam Diamon 26 and Khundrakpam Aden 33 led the scoring for THAU but they were bowled out for 116 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs to go down by 11-runs.Md Karim, Naeem, Md Sagir Ahamed, Fm Sakil Ahamed and Boboicha Thokchom of Al-ameen picked a wicket apiece in this innings.

Meanwhile in a Group C match staged at Moijing Public Ground, SCCC, Singjamei Thongam Leikai registered a slender 1-wicket win over REYS, Khwai Nagamapal Lamabam Leikai.

Put in to bat first, REYS were bowled out for 91 runs in 24.2 overs before SCCC struggled their way to 93/9 in 26.1 overs.

Rex Waikhom (4/25) and Lishan Meitei Khaidem (3/20) shared 7 wickets for SCCC before Basant 38 and Shyam Kumar Ray 30 not out led the chase.

For REYS, Reolin Oinam picked five wickets (5/9) but his efforts went in vain as the target they set was not big enough.

Yungkham Romario (2/11) and Kiran Laishram (2/14) also claimed two wickets apiece but in a lost cause.
