43rd State Age Group Athletics Championships : CWC crowned overall team champions

Imphal, May 12 2024:
WC, Nungoi were crowned overall team champions of the 43rd State Age Group Athletics Championships organised by the Athletics Association of Manipur at Main Stadium, Khuman Lampak.
CWC, Nungai managed the top honour courtesy of 34 gold, 13 silver and 11 bronze medals won across various events in different age-group competitions as MMC, Mongkhang Lambi finished runners up with 16 gold, 14 bronze and 6 bronze medals.
CWC were feted with a cash reward of Rs 10,000 as MMC contended with a cash prize of Rs 5,000.Two most promising players- L Alex and Ashnichandra were also feted with trophies sponsored by ex-athletes.
Final day highlight
Hammer Throw
M Devraj Luwang fetched the hammer throw gold medal for senior men with a 33.38 m throw as L Renshan of PYNK sealed the silver medal with a 29.24 m throw.
L Sanathoi of ISA in the meantime took the U-20 boys gold medal with a 20.25 m finish as his compatriot Y Vikash bagged the U-18 boys gold medal by registering best 23.20 m throw.
ISA's M Risabh also starred in the U-16 boys event with a 20.83 m finish to claim a gold medal as S Monika of PYNK sealed the U-20 girls gold medal with a 20.14 m finish.
Senior women's hammer throw gold medal in the meantime went to S Laxmi of MPSC who posted the highest 29.45 m as her compatriot M Arundhati took the silver medal with the second best 26.90 m finish.
Steeplechase
Md Badaruddin of SSA won the U-18 boys 2000 m steeplechase gold medal with a time of 6:52.84 (6 minutes and 52.84 seconds) as Waikhom Thoisana of KNSAA bagged the U-20 boys 3000 m steeplechase gold with a time of 10:56.82.Kh Romajit in the meantime bagged the senior men's 3000 m steeplechase gold medal taking 10:29.07 as T Shila took 15:01.35 to seal the senior women's 3000 m steeplechase gold.
400 m race
L Velinda of CWC sealed the U-18 girls 400 m race gold medal today as she clocked 1:10.24 while Asmita Prajati of KNSAA took 1:15.62 to win the U-20 girls gold medal.
L Uma of SROY meanwhile took home the senior women's gold medal with a time of 1: 40.28 as N John of CWC (50.67 seconds), N Alex of CWC (50.47 seconds) and I Anilkumar of CWC (53.25 seconds) bagged the U-18 boys, U-20 boys and men's open gold medals.
