Football Club Lajong, Shillong have reached the final of the 54th Sir Churachand Singh KCSI, CBE Memorial Football Tournament 2010 .
At Khuman Lampak Main Stadium today, FC Lajong overcame a strong challenge from Assam Rifles, Tezpur via tie-breaker 3-2 .
FC Lajong goalkeeper Lalthuammawia was the hero of the day saving as many as three penalty shots.
The teams were evenly matched, and both adopted defenseive strategy.
As such, there were very few chances at the goal mouth of either side.
At the end of the regulation time, AR Tezpur and FC Lajong were tied 0-0 .
Ultimately, the match was decided by tie-breaker in which Lalthuammawia blocked all the shots from Naoba Singh, Gopin Singh and Akum Ao.
Only Thoi Thoiba Singh and Ajit Kumar Singh could convert their penalty kicks for the AR side.
In response, Ricky Lalremmawia, C Lallawmzuala and Zenith Mashangba found their targts even as Lalramluaha's kick went above the bar.
FC Lajong will clash with either TRAU or KSC in the championship match .
