Screening of the contestants for the Miss Barak beauty pageant, which would be organised as part of the upcoming North East Youth Yestival, 2011, was conducted at Hotel Imphal here today.
In all 15 contestants turned up for the screening.
Winner of the Miss Barak title would get a cash reward of Rs 1,20,000 while the first runner and second runner up would be awarded Rs 80,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively.
Talking to mediapersons on the sidelines of the screening test, convenor of North East Youth Festival, Dominic informed that the festival would be held from January 17 to 19, 2011 at Senapati.
The theme of the festival to be organised under the aegis of Youth Initiative Foundation is peace through culture and identity.
Dominic said that the three-day long mega event would witness cultural programmes of different groups of people living in Manipur including hill and valley districts.
There would also be competition among the foodstalls of different communities.
The main objective of organising the festibal is to improve inter-societal amity and enhance cultural harmony amongst all the people of North East India and thereby spread the message of peace and brotherhood, he explained.
