Speaking at the surrender ceremony, ADGP V Zathang said that the Government will ensure a way for their future life under the existing surrender policy.
Zathang said that the return of the youths to the mainstream after leading a wayward life was a milestone towards restoring peace in the State.
Maj Gen CA Krishnan remarked that homecoming of 84 youths this year is indicative of the improving situation.
This would prove to be a beacon for other misguided youth to lay down arms, abjure violence and return to the mainstream.
Later speaking to media persons, Maj Gen CA Krishnan said that he would pave way for those misguided youths who wish to return to the mainstream.
The surrender of the five UG cadres materialised after fervent appeals were issued to their families, relatives and friends, the IGAR (S) said.
After a tripartite pact was signed with Kuki UG groups, a bilateral cease fire has been declared between security forces and KCP-MC (Lallumba faction).
Claiming that there have been many instances of UG cadres laying down arms in the last few months, CA Krishnan expressed confidence that more UG cadres would be joining the mainstream soon.
Talking about rehabilitation, he said that the State Government has already formulated an impressive policy for the misguided youths.
The surrendered cadres said that they laid down arms on their own accord as they wished to lead a normal life.
Family members and relatives of the surrenderies were also present at today's ceremony.
