CCPur, February 28 2025: A combined team of Manipur Police and Assam Rifles destroyed approximately 10 acres of illegal poppy cultivation at Suangkong village in Churachandpur district with the assistance of local villagers yesterday.

According to a press release issued by IGAR (S), the villagers of Suangkong got together and approached Assam Rifles to provide security and assistance in destroying the illicit poppy cultivation in their area.

Subsequently, the poppy destruction operation was taken up.

Notably, poppy cultivations is a big concern in the State which has been going through a series of crises since May 3, 2023 .
