Family claims Samita's body; JAC stir on

Imphal, August 08 2025: The JAC and family of Khangebam (n) Maibam (o) Samita of Tekcham Mayai Leikai, who died after delivering a birth at Thoubal District Hospital, claimed her body on Friday for conduct of the last rites.

Speaking to newspersons at JNIMS morgue, JAC chairman Kh Mer-atombi recounted that they had been demanding action against the person(s) responsible for Samita's controversial death.

She disclosed that although no agreement has been reached with the government and the authority concerned, the JAC decided to claim the body in the interest of the family in grief.

However, the JAC will not stop agitating until the person(s) involved are punished as per the law of the land, Meratombi stated.
