Imphal, January 20, 2011:
A joint meeting of the Maring Uparup Assembly, Maring Students' Union and Maring Napuiya Yinglam condemned the depicting of Maring traditional attires in the 2011 calendar of the Khoibu Naga Baptist Association.
In a press release, MUA alleged that some persons of Maring community who themselves claim as Khoibu tribe raised some conflicting issues in regard to the Maring traditional clothes, Maring dialect, and Maring history which may lead to social unrest and violence.
Expressing serious concern on the mater, MUA asked the KNBA to withdraw the calendar publication through media on or before January 26, failing which Maring tribes will not be responsible for any untoward incidents and violent activities.
