Imphal, September 21 2025:
The Lamyanba Irabot Ningsing Thouram Observation Committee (LINTOC) has categorically stated that the Government of India must understand the history of Manipur and act accordingly.
A public function commemorating the day Lamyanba Irabot went underground on September 21, 1948 was held today at Kadangband Part 2 .
The function was organised by LINTOC under the aegis of the Protection and Preservation Committee Manipur (PPCM) .
Speaking at the commemorative function, LINTOC convenor Laishram Shyam said that the Government of India must acknowledge the history of Manipur and respect the Constitution of Manipur.
Shyam said that the most fitting tribute to Lamyanba Irabot would be following his footsteps and translating his vision into action.
Manipur is far from being a progressive and egalitarian society as envisioned by Lamyanba Irabot.
The people of Manipur are being deprived of basic human rights and they are living under perpetual repression, he said.
Following a sustained aggression by Chin-Kuki narcoterrorists, thousands of people have been living like refugees in their own home State, he said.
The LINTOC convenor asserted that all sections of people need to study the thoughts and vision of Lamyanba Irabot.
The Government of India must grant all the fundamental rights so that the people of Manipur can live with dignity.
At the same time, the people need to work collectively with a farsighted vision, Shyam said.
The function which started with offering of floral tributes to the portrait of Lamyanba Irabot was also attended by Kadangband Apunba Naharol Club president Elangbam Gyaneshore, LINTOC co-convenors K Thoiba Meetei, Kh Gopen Luwang, Y Tiken and social worker Keisham Sohodeva as presidium members.
