Court nods to NIA application

Imphal, February 21 2025:
Special Court NIA Manipur has allowed an application filed by the NIA for questioning Yaikhom Tondonba who is currently lodged in Special Jail Nagaon after he was arrested in connection with the ambush on a convoy of 46 Assam Rifles near Sialsih village, Churachandpur district on November 13, 2021 .
One Commanding Officer of Assam Rifles, his wife, a minor son and four other AR personnel were killed in the ambush apart from inflicting injuries to six other personnel.
Special PP NIA submitted that Yaikhom Tondonba Singh was arrested by Hojai District Police of Assam in connection with an FIR registered at Lumding Police Station, Hojai District, Assam.
The Special PP said that the accused has been trained in a PLA camp at Tamu, Myanmar and there is a strong suspicion that he was involved in the ambush carried out on November 13, 2021 .
The Special PP then prayed the Court for permission to question the accused inside Special Jail, Nagaon so as to unearth relevant facts related to the case.
The Special PP also prayed for the Chief Investigating Officer and the team to examine the accused inside Special Jail, Nagaon for a period of 5 days from February 22 to 26 with laptop and printer.
The Court, after hearing the submission of the Special PP, allowed NIA to question the accused by following due procedure of law.
