Moreh, May 11 2024:
Despite presence of a large number of both Central and State security personnel, rampant theft and robbery have once again hit the border town of Moreh.
Since the last couple of days, suspected Kuki miscreants have been plundering and stealing anything of value from abandoned Meitei houses in broad daylight.
Although the theft and plunder happened in broad day light, Central security forces deployed at the border town have been turning a blind eye.
Moreover, the State security forces too have been doing nothing to stop the unlawful activities.
On the other hand, it is said that the State security forces stationed at Moreh are not given permission to venture out of their premises.
However this report cannot be confirmed independently.
If the rampant theft and robbery are allowed to go on for a few more days, all the Meitei houses which are still standing today though abandoned will be wiped out soon without any trace, said many people.
Notably, Kuki militants and their supporters drove out all the Meitei people from Moreh in the wake of the violent conflict which erupted on May 3, 2023 .
They also burnt down hundreds of Meitei houses.
Now Kuki miscreants have been stealing anything of value from the abandoned Meitei houses without any restriction.
At the same time, the Government has been working to bring peace and normalcy in the border town by deploying a large number of Central forces and State forces.
