Man remanded for sexually assaulting daughter

Imphal, October 09 2024: A 45-year-old man from Kakching district has been arrested and remanded to judicial custody for allegedly sexually assaulting his own minor daughter of 7 .

The man was staying at a rented house in Imphal East and was arrested by the police on October 4 .

He was produced before the Special Judge POCSO Imphal East today, and remanded to judicial custody till October 23 .

The man allegedly sexually assaulted his own minor daughter for two months, said the police.

The accused was arrested by the police following a complaint filed by his younger sister.

He was produced before the POCSO Court today by Imphal East women police after completion of the police custody period.

In the Court today, the Special Public Prosecutor submitted that the accused had been sexually assaulting his own minor daughter for about two months, and had threatened to kill her if she disclosed the incidents to anyone.

The Prosecutor stated that the complainant, who is the younger sister of the accused, came to know of the sexual assault after the victim told her.

On examination, the Prosecutor said the minor girl has disclosed that she was sexually assaulted by her own father on October 3 and on many previous occasions by threatening to kill her.

When her aunt came to their rented house, she narrated the incidents to her, said the Prosecutor.

The minor girl's statements have been recorded under Section 180 BNSS (Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita) .

According to the victim's statements, the Prosecutor stated that the father sexually assaulted his own daughter everyday at night time.

Her father used to wake her when she was sleeping and sexually assault her.

Her father even forced her to drink alcohol.

She drank three times out of fear of her father.

The man had been sexually assaulting the minor for two months, and he used to beat the child when she cried in pain, the Prosecutor told the Court.

The accused has three children and is divorced.

His eldest son (8) and the minor daughter were staying with him at the rented house.

His youngest son is staying with the wife.

Medical examination of the minor victim was conducted on October 7 at RIMS.

The doctor has opined, "There are signs suggestive of recent forceful penetration of vagina", the Prosecutor said.

A serious offence has been committed by a father towards his own minor daughter.

If the accused is released on bail, he may kill the victim.

The case is in its initial stage and more evidence is needed to be collected, said the Prosecutor, praying the Court for judicial custody of the accused.

The Court, after hearing the submissions and on perusal of the case record, remanded the accused to judicial custody till October 23 .
