CCpur, October 22 2015:
The second batch of the JAC and Core Committee of ATSUM who were in New Delhi for the past two weeks have returned today but without any concrete results as they claimed that their proposal for tripartite talks between the tribal CSOs, the State Government and representatives of the Central Government was rejected by the Chief Minister.
Addressing the media tonight, after the team held a meeting with the martyrs' families upon their arrival, H Mangchinkhup, convenor of JAC Churachandpur said their suggestion for talks with both the State and Central Governments in New Delhi failed to materialise as the Chief Minister was reportedly against a third party (Central Government) joining the talks.
Nevertheless, he maintained that the Central leadership including Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and the Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju were very much concerned about the issue and assured their utmost co-operation.
He also said that officials in the Home Ministry assured, and even asked them to take the news to the public, that their concerns will surely be addressed.
The convenor and his team while giving a day-to-day report of their stay in New Delhi said that Central envoy Ashok Prasad has already given his report to the PMO and also to the MHA on his findings about the unrest witnessed in the State following the passing of the three 'anti-tribal Bills' .
The JAC team, accompanied by the Co-ordinating Committee of ATSUM and MTFD had also consulted several Constitutional experts to streamline their future course, he said and added that every detail of their meetings both with the officials and the experts cannot be openly discussed in detail for now.
He however disclosed that many more things need to be done and called for a concerted, unflinching and a unified movement from the people to take the grievances of the State tribal people to its logical end Meanwhile, the JAC has declared the relaxation of dharnas and funeral parties for tomorrow and the day after due to the home coming of Dr Rochunga Pudaite's mortal remains and the scheduled funeral ceremony.
Shops and other establishments will need to still close-down after 2 pm, on these days, they said.
