Houses of alleged drug peddlers ransacked

Thoubal, October 22 2015:
Irate locals today vandalised the houses of six drug sellers at Sangaiyumpham Part-I Mairenkhun in Thoubal district at around 7 am today.
Young Pioneer Welfare Association (YPWA) secretary Md Zakir Khan told this correspondent that some unknown persons stole 25 kgs of rice and Rs 6000 from the shop of one Md Fajaruddin (28) yesterday.
In this connection, local club and meira paibi members and volunteers of Anjuman Islahi Muasharah (AIM) pulled up two persons identified as Md Aribam Abo (45) and Md Mayangmayum Azad (30) for interrogation.
During the course of questioning, the duo confessed that they stole the rice and cash from Md Fajaruddin's shop.
They also revealed the names of six persons of the locality who allegedly sell drugs.
They have been identified as Jinatun (45) w/o Md Naji Ahamed, Nurjahan (28) w/o Sabur Khan, Aribam Ser Khan (30) s/o (L) Kayamuddin, Md Mufijuddin (30) s/o Md Mane, Md Meino (45) s/o (L) Md Mane and Md Ibocha (40) s/o (L) Md Rafi.
After the identities of these six persons were revealed by Abo and Azad, an irate mob vandalised their houses.
However, Aribam Ser Khan resisted the mob by showing his license gun.
Later, he fired a few rounds in the air to disperse the mob.
However, he was overpowered and severely beaten up and his house ransacked by the mob.
As Ser Khan was critically injured in the incident, he was rushed Thoubal district.
However, he was refered to RIMS hospital.
Later, at around 4.30 pm, a team of Thoubal district police rescued Abo and Azad.
