Imphal, October 22 2015:
With the schedule for the by-election to Thangmeiband A/C and Thongju A/C already announced, electioneering has been picking momentum in the two Assembly segments.
An election meeting of BJP's prospective candidate Thongam Bishwajit was held today at SEVA Club ground, Thongju Part II today.
Addressing the meeting, Bishwajit called upon rival candidates for constructive debates on development matters of Thongju Assembly segment.
He also called for a complete halt to malicious political mudslinging.

Saying that Thongju A/C is still backward in every aspect, Bishwajit claimed that he joined electoral politics with the primary objective of making up the development deficit and bring positive changes in the Assembly segment.
People of the Assembly segment are fully aware who have been telling falsehoods and misleading the public, he said.
Even as someone claimed that so many community halls have been constructed in his vote to garner votes, it turned out that the community halls were constructed by different agencies with funds drawn from several sources.
Money as well as documents were collected from gullible women in the name of name of Self Help Groups.
After loans were withdrawn from banks, there were instances where bank staff came asking for loan repayment from women who had no idea about the loans, Bishwajit said.
It is rather disheartening that people have not yet bothered to question where and how the MLA Local Area Development Fund was utilized.
"As for myself, I'm prepared to give a detailed account", added the former MLA.
Informing that he has submitted application and bio-data for a BJP ticket, Bishwajit assured that he would come back with the BJP ticket in the next couple of days.
Pointing out that Congress party was/is ruling at the Centre and the State for prolonged years, Bishwajit questioned if the successive Congress Governments contributed anything worthwhile towards the country's development or the State's welfare.
It remains a big question whether the many Central sponsored schemes are being implemented properly or in time in the State.
Congress party's slogan Garibi Hatao has turned out to be 'Expel the poor', said the former MLA.
BJP Manipur Pradesh spokesman RK Shivchandra, and treasurer Robin Blackie too spoke at the political conference.
