The united Committee Manipur taking serious note of ever increasing violent incidents in the State has appealed to organisation/s involved in the abduction of Salam Indrajit to honour the masses' appeal for releasing the individual.
Salam Indrajit, who is a Section Officer in the Engineering Cell of State's Education Dept was reportedly abducted on December 15 and his whereabouts remain unknown till date.
A UCM statement issued by its assistant secretary IPR also highlighted anxiety and uncertain caused to the public owing to factional clashes among armed outfits, taking hostage of innocent civilians to settle score between rival groups, exploding bombs at public places and at private residences.
The UCM also turned its ire against security forces for failing to safeguard life and property of the citizens as well as taking undue advantage of existing laws under the pretext of containing insurgency movements.
The ongoing army operation in pockets of Chandel district also came under the UCM scanner with the body alleging that skirmishes between the security forces and armed cadres at Samtal area have led to mass displacement of the villagers which the Government has been ironically and disturbing remaining inactive to extend solace to the suffering public.
