Bpr/Chd/Kak/Non/Tbl, July 21 2023: Condemnations pour in from all spheres against the shocking viral video showing two women being paraded naked by a mob.

Wide-scale protests were held at various locations today strongly denouncing the barbaric and inhumane act committed against the two women.

Bishnupur
Demanding stringent punishment for all culprits involved in the horrifying act of naked parading of women, a sit-in was staged at Nambol Hao Keithel today.

Speaking at the occasion, Nambol Apunba Meira Paibi Lup General Secretary L Premila while strongly condemning the incident expressed discontentment over 'the Prime Minister's statement on the viral video when he had not uttered a single word on the violence of Manipur which has been going on for more than two months' .

Chandel
Reacting strongly against the act of outraging the modesty of women, a sit-in protest was staged at Nupi Keithel in Chandel District Headquarters and Thamlakhuren/Lamkang Centre organised by Naga Women Union Chandel under the aegis of Naga Women Union Manipur .

Demanding befitting and stringent punishments against such a heinous act, Naga Women Union Chandel General Secretary Ng Catherine Moyon termed it as a 'barbaric and uncivilized act' wherein the mob failed to uphold the modesty of one's sisters and mothers.

All should come together in condemning such incidents setting aside all differences to ensure that such acts are not repeated, she added.

Placards which read 'Punish Criminals, Save Women', 'Zero Tolerance for Violence', 'Empower women, Stop crime against women', 'Unite against violence today', 'Our women Our pride', 'Respect Women and Children' etc were used today.

Kakching
Peace Committee Kakching District strongly condemned the act and demanded stringent punishment for the perpetrators involved in such a savage act.

Addressing media persons during a press meet held at Old Age Home Kakching today, Vice-chairman of the committee Yengkhom Nilachandra said parading two women in nude is a despicable act and befitting punishment should be awarded to all the culprits.

He further expressed discontentment over the statement of the Prime Minister made only yesterday sidelining the violence in the State which has been going on for more than two months.

Considering the suffering of the people, he urged the Central and State Government to resolve the crisis at the earliest.

Committee Advisor Nongmaithem Nimai while condemning the incident, questioned the silence of the Prime Minister's silence on the unabated violence and killings creating havoc in the State.

Had the Prime Minister intervened and taken up timely measures to curb the violence, the State would not be experiencing this mayhem today, he said.

Denouncing the naked parading women, a sit-in protest was staged at Hiyanglam Wabagai Lamkhai Keithel by the womenfolk of the area and raised many slogans today.

The protest was jointly held by Yelhoumee Kanba Lup-Keirak, Wabagai, Hiyanglam, Khoidum and Sekmaijin.

Noney
Womenfolk of Longmai area staged a protest demonstration today at Longmai Bazar against the inhumane act of outraging the modesty of the women publicly.

The protestors urged all concerned to book all culprits and provide befitting punishment.

The mothers can never come to terms with this barbaric act on women and exemplary punishment should be given to ensure that such acts are not committed again.

Further they urged the Central and State Government to provide adequate protection to women to curb crime against women.

Thoubal
Anjuman Islah-E- Muaashrah , Lilong Manipur(AIM) staged a protest today at Lilong Keithel demanding severe punishments for all the culprits involved in the act of publicly outraging modesty of women.

Taking part in the protest, AIM Secretary Md Habibullah said that it is really disturbing to see such heinous acts against women when the State is undergoing a tough time.

Expressing shock and anguish over the incident, he appealed to all to respect women and not to resort to this kind of act in future.

The Government should take up adequate measures to ensure that such crimes are not repeated.

He further maintained that no compromise should be made on Manipur's integrity and Meitei Pangals will fight against all forms of forces trying to disintegrate Manipur.

Sharing the pain and grief of those who have been affected by the present unrest, he urged all concerned to make cohesive efforts for a peaceful Manipur.

Placards which read 'Stop crime against women', 'Zero tolerance for violence', 'Punish criminals, Save women', 'Women's safety Our Priority', 'Respect women Protect child' were used during the protest today.
