Imphal, February 21 2025: Security forces destroyed four acres of illegal poppy cultivation at Maungzang village in Churachandpur district.

A press release issued by IGAR (South) said that the operation was a collaborative effort, which also involved the Forest Department, Narcotics and Affairs of Borders (NAB) personnel, and local people of the area.

The poppy plantations were reportedly destroyed on February 17 .

Saying that the authorities also took the time to educate the local villagers about the harmful effects of poppy cultivation on their community, youth, and environment, it added that the villagers have also taken a pledge against further plantation in their area.
