Abducted youths rescued, 6 arrested

Imphal, May 11 2024: Apart from successfully rescuing two youths abducted by KCP(PWG), police have arrested six members of the particular group.

A team of Imphal East commandos carried out a random mobile frisking and checking of suspected passers-by at Kshetrigao Yumkhaibam Leirak and its surrounding areas at about 9 pm yesterday, sources informed.

In the course of the random frisking and checking exercise, the commando team was able to rescue two persons and six members of KCP(PWG) who were involved in the abduction were arrested soon after.

The rescued persons have been identified as Irom Anand (24) s/o I Kunja-kishore Singh of Kongpal Khaidem Leikai and Ngangom Rohit Singh (24) s/o Ng Ibomcha Singh of Kongpal Kongkham Leikai.

Six active members of the KCP(PWG) identified as Chingakham Sanajaoba Singh alias Sana alias Dojo (23) s/o (late) Ch Ojit Singh of Mayang Langjing Ta-mang, Soibam Sital Singh (24) s/o S Subash of Lamlai Mayai Leikai, Maibam Naresh (24) s/o M Heramani of Senjam Khunou, Ning-thoujam Ajit (26) s/o N Jiten Singh of Yaingangpokpi, Chingsubam Thounagamba Meitei alias Amujao (30) s/o Ch Bobo Meitei of Pukhao Shantipur and Wahengbam Premjit Singh alias Abung (40) s/o (late) W Tomcha Singh of Kanglatongbi Bazar, presently staying at Yurembam were also arrested at around 9:25 pm yesterday.

One Maruti Suzuki van, one scooter (Honda Maestro) and some mobile phones were seized from their possessions, said the sources.

During preliminary interrogation, it was learnt that the six abductors are presently working under the command of one Mr Ibomcha Singh alias SK of KCP (PWG) .

It was also revealed that Irom Anand Singh and Ngangom Rohit Singh were abducted yesterday from Thambalkhong Sabal Leikai, Imphal East by the six active members of KCP (PWG), the sources added.
