Imphal, September 08 2026: RSS Manipur Prant has strongly condemned the death of well known musician Chongtham Vikram following a brutal assault in Delhi.

According to reports, Vikram had gone downstairs from his residence in Kilokri, New Delhi, after a group of six men were allegedly drinking and creating a disturbance outside his apartment.

When he reportedly requested them to lower the noise, he was allegedly assaulted by the group and sustained severe injuries, due to which he later succumbed.

RSS Manipur Prant is deeply disturbed by this senseless act of violence.

No person should have to face such brutality for simply requesting others to maintain peace and consideration in a residential neighbourhood, it said in a statement.

It called for a swift, impartial and thorough investigation into the incident, and urged authorities concerned to ensure all those responsible for the death are brought to justice in accordance with the law.

"The loss of a talented Manipuri artist is deeply painful for the people of Manipur.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, friends, fellow artists and the wider Manipuri community.

We pray for strength and courage for the family to bear this irreparable loss," said the RSS Manipur Prant.
