Governor apprised of need to include "Disability Sports" in State Sports Policy

Dr Ricky Laishram of the Spastic Society of Manipur, along with members of the Manipur Cerebral Palsy (CP) Football Team have highlighted the need for inclusion of "Disability Sports" in the State Sports Policy to Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla.
Notably, the football team will be representing Manipur in the upcoming 3rd National CP Football Championship, which will be held from October 9 to 12 in Goa, said a press release issued by the Governor's Secretariat.
Calling on the Governor at Raj Bhavan, Imphal, today, the team stressed on the importance of including "Disability Sports" in the Sports Policy while noting the achievements of Manipur's athletes in para-athletics, CP football, wheelchair basketball, badminton, and archery at National and international levels.
They emphasized that policy recognition would ensure equal opportunities, access to facilities, scholarships, and employment benefits, while fostering inclusive sports development.
Governor Bhalla appreciated their dedication and noted that the matter would be given due consideration.
He also extended best wishes to the team for their upcoming championship Separately, the Director of Trade, Commerce and Industry, Manipur, Yumnam Robita Devi, along with two members of the Manipur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) also called on the Govemof today.
They briefed the Governor about the upcoming 'Manipur Global Buyers & Sellers Summit 2025', highlighting that at least 20 international buyers and sellers will be participating in the event.
They also extended a formal invitation to the Governor to grace the 10th inaugural ceremony of the summit in Imphal.
In response, the Governor expressed appreciation for the initiative and conveyed best wishes for the summit's success.
