Imphal, January 24, 2011:
Villagers of three villages have exerted pressure on the Government to produce all those involved in the killing of one Rabei of Tairenpokpi under Imphal West district.
A public meeting held in connection with the killing at Tairenpokpi Awang Leikai today has also set January 30 as the deadline to the Government to bring out the culprits.
The meeting was convened by the JAC formed in protest of the killing.
It may be recalled here that 32-year old Ninthoujam Rabei was found shot dead at paddy field located in between Sairemkhul and Atong Khuman yesterday afternoon.
An empty cartridge of shot gun was also recovered near the body.
Attended by villagers of Sairemkhul, Atong Khuman and Tairenpokpi, today's meeting further resolved that the culprits would be expelled if they happened to be from any of these three villages.
Furthermore, the meeting decided to ban use of shot gun by the villagers of the three villages without the prior permission of the village authorities concerned and to impose a fine of Rs 5000 if any villager violated the ban.
