Earlier in the day, demanding swift justice for Ningthoujam Babysana, the JAC announced a bandh for the whole of Thangmeiband area tomorrow, followed by a State wide bandh on August 9.The decision was taken during a public meeting which was organised at THAU Sports Complex for the youth clubs, Meira Paibis and the JAC today.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, the JAC convenor Thingnam Chittaranjan said that a bandh will be imposed in all of Thangmeiband area from 6 am to 6 pm tomorrow.
This will be followed by an all Manipur bandh from 5 am of August 9 till midnight, he announced, adding that the resolutions adopted during the meeting today also included organising a Meira rally from THAU tonight.
Alleging that the inability of the State Government to solve the case or produce any kind of a definitive lead concerning the death of Babysana, even after 21 days since the incident, is a big disappointment and a sign of incompetence, the convenor said that during the meeting, Babysana's uncle, Ningthoujam Kumar announced that the shradha ceremony of the deceased will not be performed until and unless justice is delivered.
At the end of the meeting, a human chain protest was also organised by the JAC and the CSOs present.
