National Deworming Day 2019 launched at Bishnupur

With the aim to deworm all preschool and school-age children between the ages of 1-19 years to improve their overall health, nutritional status, access to education and quality of life, the 2nd round of National Deworming Day 2019 was launched at the conference hall of the Old CMO Office, Bishnupur for Bishnupur District.
The programme organized by District Health Society, Bishnupur was attended by District Programme Officer, ICDS Bishnupur, Th Phullobati Devi as chief guest; Chief Medical Officer Bishnupur, T Manihar Singh as functional president and DI Zone IV Bishnupur, Th Raghumani Singh as guest of honour.

After the 1st phase of National Deworming Day campaign was conducted across the country on February 8 this year to reduce the prevalence of parasitic intestinal worms among children, the second phase of the Deworming campaign will be conducted tomorrow (August 8) for the district which aim to orally administer Albendazole tablets to 85,335 preschool and school-age children between the ages of 1 to 19 years inclduing 41,513 girls and 43,822 boys at 972 Anganwadi centres, 222 Govt Schools, 237 ASHAs and 95 private schools.
All the children who missed out in the 2nd phase will be administered the said tablets on Mob Up Day to be held on August 16 .
Speaking at the occasion, chief guest Th Phullobati Devi said that the Health Department alone cannot make the ongoing mission successful and urged the staff of ICDS, education and health department to render their services at the optimum level in order to cover maximum area of Bishnupur district.
CMO Bishnupur, T Manihar informed that Albendazole tablets was administered to 93.53% of the children of the district in the first phase while appealing to all the staff to achieve 95% in the second phase.
