Imphal, August 07 2019:
Naorem Ningol Sharmila, the eldest daughter of late Naorem Rekha (who was found brutally murdered at her residence at Singjamei Chingamathak on May 29), has urged the authorities concerned to conduct the investigation into her mother's death in a proper way and to approach the crime from all possible angles, instead of just pointing fingers at her father, Naorem Dijamani, who is being held as the prime suspect currently.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club yesterday, Sharmila decried that even though it has been more than two months since her mother was brutally murdered, no concrete clues or evidences have been found till date to bring the case to a definitive conclusion.
On the other hand, she said that her father, Naorem Dijamani, has been in judicial custody as the prime suspect since June 10 and maintained that, apart from some reports of presence of blood stain on her father's pants, the authorities concerned have not produced enough solid evidences so far.
Sharmila further stated that a case was fought between her father and the locality, some six months back, in which Dijamani won the case.
Following this, members of the party which lost the case reportedly threatened to kill her mother and to beat up her father, she alleged.
She maintained that the JAC, instead of pressing the authorities to deliver swift justice for her mother, has pointed fingers at her father and made unreasonable demands including handing over of all her father's properties to Robert (her brother).
Sharmila informed that the gold chain and ring from her late mother and a total of Rs 4 lakh cash have not been recovered and no concrete clue has been found till date.
She appealed to the JAC, not to cause any panic or fear to the family members and urged the JAC, CSOs, authorities concerned and police to extend maximum support in delivering justice to her mother.
