Imphal, August 21 2025: The Court of Special Judge POCSO Imphal West remanded a non local cobbler to judicial custody on the charge of sexually assaulting a minor girl on August 17, 2025 evening, today.

Accused Girish Kumar Das (43), s/o Shanker Das of Begusarai Phulwaria, Bihar currently staying in a rented house at Uripok was arrested on August 17 night based on the complaint lodged by the mother of the victim and he was remanded to police custody till today.

A team of Imphal police station produced the accused before the Court today with a prayer to send him to judicial custody.

The Special PP submitted that the mother of the victim lodged a complaint on 17 August night stating that her daughter went to the rented room of the accused to get her school bag repaired by the accused.

A few minutes later, her daughter came running back, crying and visibly frightened.

When asked what had happened, the victim stated that the accused had sexually assaulted her, said the Special PP.

During interrogation, the accused admitted to the charges levelled against him.

The medico-legal examination report of the victim, as per the opinion of a doctor, indicates signs suggestive of recent sexual assault.

The medical examination report of the accused is still awaited, as per the police.

The Court after hearing the submission of Special PP and on perusal of the case record remanded the accused cobbler to judicial custody till September 4 for smooth investigation of the case.
