79th Independence Day celebrated with grandeur

The 79th Independence Day was celebrated widely across the State with much pomp and grandeur yesterday.
Hoisting of the National flag and commemorating the umpteen contributions of the freedom fighters of the country were the highlights of the celebrations.
IMPHAL EAST
The District Administration of Imphal East celebrated the 79th Independence Day with patriotic fervour at the Deputy Commissioner's Office Complex, Porompat yesterday.
The celebration commenced with the National Anthem, followed by parade inspection and the hoisting of the National Flag by Dr Nivedita Lairenlakpam, Deputy Commissioner Imphal East.
As part of the ceremony, Certificates of Appreciation were awarded to individuals, organisations, and participants of the Rangoli and Rakhi Making Competitions held in connection with the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign, in recognition of their outstanding contributions to community welfare and public service.
CAU
Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal celebrated the 79th Independence Day with great fervour and enthusiasm at its Headquarters and all constituent colleges spread across the seven North Eastern States.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Anupam Mishra, Vice Chancellor of CAU, highlighted the notable achievements of the University during the past year.
"During 2024-25, CAU secured 16 patents and developed three new crop varieties, reflecting its commitment to innovation and agricultural advancement", he added.
The VC informed that CAU has implemented the recommendations of the 6th Deans' Committee and gave priority to capacity building.
"To enhance academic and research collaborations, the University signed 21 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with various national and international organizations.
Among these, the most significant was the MoU between CAU and the Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences (VAAS), signed on August 1, 2024 at Hyderabad House, New Delhi.
The agreement was inked in the august presence of the Prime Ministers of India and Vietnam by Dr Anupam Mishra and Dao, Vice President of VAAS", he added.
Dr Mishra further lauded the dedicated efforts of faculty, staff, and students in achieving these milestones and urged them to continue striving for excellence in teaching, research, and extension.
ASSAM RIFLES
Assam Rifles, commemorated India's 79th Independence Day with grandeur and patriotic fervour across Manipur, bringing together thousands in a shared tribute to freedom, unity, and national pride.
With all the troops and officials of Assam Rifles participating, the celebrations echoed the spirit of unity, honouring the legacy of freedom and reaffirming the bond between the armed forces and the people they serve.
More than 10000 civilians across the State of Manipur whole heartedly participated in numerous events organised on the auspicious eve of the Independence Day, right from the capital to the remotest border villages of the state, carrying the vibrant echoes of collective patriotism and solidarity.
The central celebration at the 1st Battalion Manipur Rifles Parade Ground, Imphal, was graced by Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, who unfurled the Tricolour amidst resounding applause.
The event featured a ceremonial parade by contingents of Assam Rifles and Other CAPFs, followed by vibrant cultural performances that showcased the rich diversity and unity of the nation.
Across the Imphal Valley, Assam Rifles organised flag hoisting ceremonies and community outreach at multiple Company Operating Bases.
At COB L Koireng, the Vocational Guide School in Sangaithel hosted a spirited celebration with students, teachers, locals, and ex-CRPF personnel.
COB Komlakhong saw enthusiastic participation from Phougakchao Government High School and local residents.
At COB Nambol, Meira Paibis, relief camp inmates, and students from Special Regular English School joined hands in honouring the nation.
COB Singjamei witnessed joyful participation from school children, while COB Lilong hosted a dynamic Tiranga Bike Rally with 86 riders, symbolising unity, inclusivity, and unwavering dedication to the nation.
Mantripukhri Garrison in Imphal marked the eve of Independence Day with a vibrant celebration of national pride and unity.
The Tricolour was hoisted in the presence of 130 personnel, echoing the spirit of patriotism and collective resolve.
Adding a unique dimension to the celebrations, a wellness camp was held featuring world-renowned Ayurveda expert Dr K Vasu from Pune.
Dr Vasu provided consultations to more than 100 personnel and their families.
PIB, CBC
The Press Information Bureau (PIB) and Central Bureau of Communication (CBC).
Regional Office Imphal, also came together to commemorate the 79th Independence Day, paying tribute to the Nation's freedom and unity.
Led by Dr Engam Pame, Director of CBC, RO and PIB Imphal, the staff gathered with enthusiasm to celebrate this momentous occasion.

evoking immense pride and patriotism among the attendees.
The ceremony continued with a salute and the singing of the National Anthem, filling the atmosphere with a deep sense of unity and shared identity.
The celebration underscored the staffs dedication to national unity and their role in advancing the nation's progress.
RIMS
The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, marked the 79th Independence Day of India with vibrant patriotism and heartfelt tributes.
The celebrations began with the hoisting of the National Flag by Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director, RIMS, in front of the Administrative Block, symbolising the nation's unity, pride, and resilience.
The flag hoisting ceremony was followed by patriotic songs performed by students.
Addressing the gathering, Prof Sunil Kumar paid homage to freedom fighters and lauded India's achievements in science, technology, education, and healthcare, noting RIMS's pivotal role as a leading healthcare, education, and research institution in the entire Northeast.
He also outlined future plans under Viksit Bharat 2047 and Atmanirbhar Bharat, including a 750-bed hospital, a super-specialty block, and other modem facilities.
The ceremony was graced by Prof N Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent, RIMS Hospital; Dean (Academic); Deputy Director, RIMS; Principals of the Dental College and College of Nursing; Heads of Departments; Chief Account Officer cum Financial Officer, senior officials; faculty members; nursing officials; staff and staff of MSS and CRED of RIMS, Imphal.
As part of the celebration, the Director, Medical Superintendent, and officials distributed sweets to patients admitted to the hospital, spreading joy and honouring the spirit of the day.
CRPF
143 Battalion CRPF, deployed at Lamphelpat and its sub units at Awangkhul, Rengpang.
Khongsang, Tamenglong, Nungba celebrated the 79th Independence Day of India with great enthusiasm and fervor.
The celebration began with Tiranga Cycle Rally from HQ/ 143 Bn Lamphelpat covering Uripok, Kangla Fort, Sagolband and Naoremthong with the aim to spread the message of unity, patriotism, and healthy living.
After the rally a mass tree plantation drive was conducted at the Directorate of Economics & Statistics in which Ravinder Sharma, Commandant-143 Bn, Peijonma Kamei, Director of Economics & Statistics and other officers participated.
Ravinder Sharma also hoisted the National Flag at the Quarter Guard of 143 Bn CRPF and took the salute of special guard.
Moreover, on the occasion of 79th Independence Day, 169 Battalion CRPF under the leadership of Suresh Kumar, Commandant carried out a noble initiative by donating essential food items including rice, atta, mustard oil, masoor dal, urad dal, sugar, salt, potatoes, onions, haldi powder, mirchi powder, etc to the residents of Langol Old Age Home, Imphal West.
Demonstrating true compassion and community spirit, the battalion distributed these supplies to support the daily needs of the elderly.
Commandant Suresh Kumar, 2-I/C Md Yasser, DC Armamma and other officers/jawans of the unit participated in the event.
MPP
Manipur People's Party also celebrated the 79th Independence Day of India at its head office in Mapal Kangjeibung, Imphal yesterday.
The event was attended by MPP president S Brojen Singh, working president Dr S Ibomch Singh, general secretary Dr K Muktasana Singh, general secretary Kh Saratchandra Singh, Loumee Lup chairman A Bele Singh, Chanura Marup president N Menaka Chanu and other party leaders.
Officering of floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, Netjai Subhas Chandra Bose, Rani Gaidinliu, M Koireng Singh, H Nilamani Singh, S Churachand Singh, Janav Naki Ahmad Chaudary, Achum Kom and other freedom fighters were the main highlight of the event.
SAINIK SCHOOL
Sainik School Imphal also celebrated the 79th Independence Day with great zeal and patriotic fervor yesterday.
The celebration commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag by the school's Principal Col A Rajiv Singh in the presence of first lady Adv Asha Nair, vice principal, administrative officer, staff and cadets.
It was followed by the singing of the National Anthem by the staff and cadets.
A house-wise patriotic song competition was also conducted.
