Imphal, September 08 2026:
Legal notices have been served to three individuals who allegedly collected Rs 1,41,58,000 from 22 persons with an assurance of giving shop plots/licences at Hao Keithel, Tombisana Market and Ngari Galli of Khwairamband Keithel.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, Advocate Dr Sanabam Raghumani said that a huge amount of over Rs 1.41 crore was collected with a promise of giving shop plots and licences at Khwairamband Keithel but no shops plots or licences have been given nor the money taken for the same has been returned.
Raghumani said that Naresh Moirangthem (38) of Uripok Polem Leikai, Sorokhaibam Kumarjit Meetei (49) of Langthabal Mantrikhong Makha Leikai and Nameirakpam Bhopen Singh (41) of Kyamgei Khoirom Leikai were involved in collecting the huge amount fraudulently.
He said that legal notices were sent to them on July 11, 2026 after they failed to give shop plots and licences or return the money collected from the 22 victims despite repeated requests.
Claiming that they were the authority for allotting shop plots and issuing shop licences, the three individuals collected the huge amount in a duplicitous manner.
When the 22 victims approached the three frauds to refund their money, they were putting off the matter citing one excuse or another, Raghumani said.
He said that all the details of the amounts collected from the victims and the dates of collection or payment were mentioned in the legal notices.
Receipts, affidavits and other documents were issued in some transactions made by the victims to the three individuals but in several other transactions, payments were allegedly made without formal receipts, he said.
