Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla has greeted the people on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
The Governor, in his message, said that the 2nd of October, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi is a day to recall his timeless message of truth, non violence and service to humanity.
AK Bhalla also said that Mahatma Gandhi also firmly believed that cleanliness is not only essential for healthy living but also a moral responsibility of every citizen.
"Today, as we remember the Father of the Nation, it becomes our collective duty to uphold his ideals by keeping our homes, surrounding and public spaces clean," he said and added that a true tribute to Gandhiji lies in transforming cleanliness into a way of life.
"On this day, let us renew our commitment to Gandhi's values and dedicate ourselves to building a peaceful, united and clean Manipur and India", he appealed.
Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly Th Satyabrata also conveyed his greetings.
He said that Gandhi's vision carries a special resonance in Manipur as the State with its rich diversity of culture and tradition reflects the very unity in diversity that he cherished.
"His call for harmony beyond divisions, his belief in self-reliance through local strength and his conviction that peace is the highest form of courage remain deeply relevant to our journey today," he said.
He appealed to the people to work together to strengthen bonds among communities, uplift the marginalised and build a Manipur that fulfils Gandhi's dream of a society rooted in peace, justice and dignity for all.
While extending his greetings, Singjamei AC MLA Y Khemchand appealed to the people to reflect on the values of simplicity, the upliftment of the downtrodden, and ensuring equal rights and freedom for all which were the core principles of Mahatma Gandhi.
