Imphal, September 30 2024: The 128th birth anniversary of Jananeta Hijam Irabot was celebrated today by various clubs, associations, groups/bodies in Manipur.

AIKL

Apunba Irabot Road Kanba Lup (AIKL) celebrated the 128th birth anniversary of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot at Irabot Road, Ema Keithel, Imphal on Monday.

It was attended by Kangla Food Production proprietor, Birendra Akhom; MPP youth leader, Arambam Akramjit; CPI Manipur state secretary, Sotikumar Meitei; Manipur University, Economics Department, Prof Chinglen Masinam; Two Stroke Club Manipur advisor, Th Tarzan; JDU Manipur state secretary, Md Sallauddhin; LJP Manipur state secretary, Romen Meitei and members of AZTECS.

At the event, AIKL event coordinator, Dr Thangjam Premananda said that the celebration was organised with the aim to instill the principles of Lamyanba Irabot, a remarkable leader who strove selflessly for the upliftment of the working class and the needy among the masses especially the youths.

PAWF Manipur

The month-long celebration of 128th birth anniversary of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot organised by Patriotic Writers Forum (PAWF) Manipur concluded today at Nungshikol Park, Chana in Lamlai Assembly Constituency.

The closing function was graced by prominent dignitaries including PAWF Manipur president, Naoroibam Khamba Luwang; World Expression Pictures president, L Ashokumar; PAWF Manipur founder secretary, OC Meira; PAWF Manipur assistant secretary, Laimayum Pratap Singh and Like Minded Group (LMG) Manipur finance secretary, Kunjeshwar Mangsatabam.

The function began with the offering of floral tributes and homage to the bust of Lamyanba Irabot erected at Nungshikol Park.

Renowned singer P Rajendro and his group also paid homage to the leader with a number of patriotic songs.

Speaking on the occasion, Naoroibam Khamba elaborated on the need for the present generation to acknowledge the vision and immense contributions of Lamyanba Irabot to the Manipuri society, and follow his footsteps in order to build an egalitarian and progressive society.

Expressing concern over the prevailing situation of Manipur, he asserted that the people of Manpur need a selfless leader like Lamyanba Irabot who will work beyond his personal interest and unite everyone to protect the territorial integrity of the State.

He further appealed to the State Government to take immediate action to end the prolonged conflict and restore peace & normalcy in Manipur at the earliest.

Manipur University

To commemorate the 128th birth anniversary of Lamyanba Irabot, Manipur University Students' Union organised a State Level Debate Competition at the conference hall of Central Library, MU, Canchipur.

It was attended by MU, Students' Welfare, Dean, Prof M Premjit; MU, Registar, Prof W Chandbabu; MUSU president, Nongthombam Suraj; MU, Ancient History & Archaeology, Head, Prof Oinam Ranjit and Library & Information Science, Head, Prof Ch Ibohal as presidium members.

The event began with the offering of floral tributes to the statue of Lamyanba Irabot erected in front of the Central Library.

The winners of the competition in the order of merit are- Mayengbam Mangal, L Sanajaoba and N Amarjit.

IMAKHOL

In line with the celebration of Irabot Day, Iramdam Meeyamgi Apunba Khorjei Lup (IMAKHOL) organised the 5th Lamyanba Irabot Poetry Reading Session today at Mantripukhri, Lamlongei.

The programme was attended by IMAKHOL president Dr Chingangbam Chandrakala and renowned writer Yaiskul Khwairakpam as presidium members.

The event began with a welcome address by IMKHOL secretary Wahengbam Romen Meetei.

Altogether, 30 poets presented their poems dedicated to Hijam Irabot during the programme.

The gathering also paid homage and floral tributes to a photograph of Lamyanba Irabot.

Printing & Stationery

The 128th birth anniversary of Jananeta Hijam Irabot was also celebrated today at the Directorate of Printing & Stationery, Manipur.

As part of the celebration, floral tributes were offered at the Irabot Statue in Moirangkhom, Imphal.

Social service was also conducted at the Directorate complex led by A Romita Devi, Director, Printing & Stationery.

Tree saplings were also presented to the retired employees of the Directorate to mark the celebration.

PPC

People Protection Committee (PPC) Konthoujam also celebrated the 128th birth anniversary of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot at Konthoujam today.

It was attended by PPC advisor Konthoujam Ranbir, PPC president Chingshubam Manitomba, PPC secretary Konthoujam Ibochouba and Konthoujam Meira Paibi convenor Konthoujam Anandabi Leima and Konthoujam Memcha among others.

As part of the commemoration, floral tributes were offered to Lamyanba Hijam Irabot and the brave heroes who gave their lives during the ongoing conflict.

Similar events were also organised today by Irawat Memorial Charitable Trust and Lamyanba Irawat Khongul Tung Inba Lup; Nongpok Ningthou Youth Association, Top Chingtha; Ngakraba Leirak Development Association, Chingamathak; Socialist Students Union of Manipur (SSUM) and Dalit Sahitya Academy, Manipur to pay homage and honour the remarkable contributions made by Lamyanba Hijam Irabot.
