Former JCILPS convenor expires, many condole

Chief Minister N Biren Singh has condoled the sudden demise of Pukhrambam Arjun Telheiba , former convenor of Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) and former president of Committee of Civil Society Kangleipak (CCSK) at his residence at Uripok Bachaspati Leikai, this morning.
An advocate by profession, Arjun Telheiba, took active part in various issues affecting the State in different capacities and his contribution to the society will be remembered by the people, reads a message of N Biren.
Saying that the State had lost a committed social activist and an acknowledged leader on his demise, the CM conveyed his heartiest condolence to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
Works Minister Th Biswajit too conveyed his heartiest condolences on the untimely demise of former convenor of JCILPS, Pukhrambam Arjun Telheiba at his residence this morning.
The Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) has mourned the sudden and untimely demise of its former convenor today.
The deceased activist had worked tirelessly to implement "The Manipur Bill, 2018" in the State and unite hills and valley people during his lifetime, said a message of JCILPS.
Arjun Telheiba is the second son of renowned writer Oja P Kunjo Singh from Kakching and survived by a wife and two sons, said the statement, adding that two minute silence was observed at its office as a mark of respect to the departed soul.
Committee of Civil Society Kangleipak (CCSK) also convened a meeting at its office at New Checkon today to condole the demise of its former president Arjun Telheiba and observed one minute silence for the departed soul to rest in peace.
Speaking to media person, CCSK advisor, Joy Chingkham stated that the deceased activist joined the CSO 10 years ago with main focus on fighting the continuous illegal influx of non locals into the State.
Saying that Telheiba complained about breathing problem a few days back before his demise, Joy added that the deceased was cremated at his birthplace, Kakching Paji Leikai today.
On the sudden demise of the late activist, members of 10 component bodies of CCSK observed one minute silence as a mark of respect to the departed soul, he said, adding that Telheiba was an LLB graduate from LMS Law College and later got his Phd degree from Manipur University.
CCSK president, Jitendra Ningomba also spoke at the event.
He said Telheiba fought relentlessly to get the Manipur People Bill passed in the State Assembly and was even imprisoned for his active participation in the ILP movement in 2014-15.While condoling the sudden demise of its advisor Pukhrambam Arjun alias Arjun Telheiba from Uripok Bachaspati Leikai, following an illness this morning, Khwai Nungsheng Sinthalup (KHNSI) has announced that its political debate of the ensuing 17th Lok Sabha election which is scheduled to be held today at Bhagyachandra Open Air Theatre (BOAT) has been postponed until further notice.
United Committee Manipur (UCM), All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU), All Manipur Youth Protection Committee (AMYPCO), Manipur Students' Federation (MSF) Students' Union of Kangleipak (SUK), United Peoples' Front, Manipur (UPF) and Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (CADA) too have condoled the demise of Pukhrambam Arjun.
