CCpur, April 08 2019: The first batches of polling personnel bound for the most remote and inaccessible areas of the Churachandpur district have been dispatched today, three days ahead of the polling day, amidst intermittent rain that made the polling teams scurrying for cover.

The polling officials including their accompanying security personnel dispatched today are for 31 polling station in 55/Tipaimukh, 22 polling stations for 56/Thanlon 22 and 9 polling stations for 57/Henglep.Despite the intermittent rain, the dispatchment goes as planned though it has partially slowed down the process as many of the transport deployed today are sturdy open-top trucks not meant for transporting passengers.

When enquired, all the personnel scheduled for today have been departed by 4 pm and there were no reports of any untoward incident by the time of filing this report.

Personnel for 56 polling stations for Tipaimukh, Thanlon, Henglep and Singhat ACs will be dispatched tomorrow.

According to the DIO Churachandpur, Pherzawl and Churachandpur districts have a total of 333 polling stations with a total of 1,99,373 voters in this parliamentary election.

Notably, 100 polling stations will be exclusively manned by all women personnel in Churachandpur and Saikot ACs.

As polling officials began reporting for poll duty, the public on Churachandpur town are likely to fell its impact as the election commission has, this time around, drafted the essential services for personnel including electricity and water supply department.

Sources privy to the situation said that water supply to the town area will be affected from tomorrow as the concerned SO along with some others have left for duty today or will be leaving by tomorrow.

This will effectively terminate supply of portable water through the PHED pipelines from tomorrow and is likely to remain so until the concerned officials return to resume their normal duties.

The electricity department are also set to close their prepaid counters at least for two days as those running the counters too are drafted to report a day ahead of polling day.
