Aid extended to lightning victim's family

Imphal, May 11 2024: Like Minded Group (LMG) Manipur has extended assistance to the bereaved family of Huidrom Nilakanta, who was killed in a lightning strike during the hailstorm on May 5.Nilakanta's wife Romila was also struck by the lightning but she survived with grievous injuries.

According to a statement of LMG, the group members visited the bereaved family at Yangdong Maning Leikai on Saturday and donated food items, daily essentials and some cash for the two children of the couple.

Nilakanta was the sole breadwinner of the family and he is survived by his wife, who is a differently abled person, and two daughters, the statement informed, while drawing attention of the state government as well as philanthropic organisations to support the family.
