AR carries out road repair; cleanliness drive

Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) carried out repairing of a road between Phaisangjang and Khumkot villages on request of the villagers who had expressed concerns over to the poor road condition due to torrential rains and associated mudslides.
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that Khumkot villagers had requested AR to help in read clearance to ease out vehicular movements in the said area.
With the road becoming non-trackable, repairing of the said road along with clearing up of the mudslides commenced from Friday to avert vehicular accidents and loss or injury to the civilians conveying via the road, it added.
On the other hand, AR organised Meri Life Cleanliness Drive at Shangshak village, Ukhrul district on Saturday, a separate release by PRO IGAR (S) said.
As part of the environment friendly initiatives of AR, a cleanliness drive was organised jointly by the villagers of Shangshak village and AR personnel.
A total of 35 civilians from Shangshak village including the village authorities joined hands with the AR troops in carrying out cleaning activities in the public areas of the village, it mentioned.
