Imphal, May 19 2024: As in other parts of the globe, Manipur Network of Positive People (MNP+) with the support of Manipur State AIDS Control Society (MACS) and PATH-CDC observed the International AIDS Candlelight Memorial at the conference hall of MNP+ in Yaiskul Hiruhanba Leikai.

The programme was held under the theme "Together we remember, together we heal, through love and solidarity" .

Speaking on the occasion, MNP+ vice president Waribam Surmik said that the International AIDS Candlelight Memorial is one of the world's oldest and largest grassroot level mobilization campaigns for HIV awareness.

"Started in 1983, the memorial serves as an important intervention for global solidarity, breaking down barriers of stigma and discrimination and giving hope to new generations", he added.

The gathering also lit candles and paid tributes to departed souls who were victims of HIV/AIDS.
