Paper leak case : 3 teachers sent to jail

Three teachers have been sent to judicial custody after they were arrested for alleged involvement in leaking the Physics question paper of Higher Secondary Examination 2025 conducted by COHSEM.
The accused teachers identified as Khangembam Arundas (60) s/o (late) Birachandra of Thoubal Kshetri Leikai who is serving as Assistant Professor of YK College teaching Economics and supervisory officer of the Paradise English School, Thoubal exam centre; Laishram Prabin (31) s/o Jadumani of Yairipok Tulihal Laishram Leikai who teaches Biology at Paradise English School and Sapam Shivdutta (35) s/o Manibabu of Khongjom Bazar who is also serving as Biology teacher at Paradise English School and officer in charge of Paradise English School, Thoubal Exam Centre were produced before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West today.
During the hearing, an APP submitted that the accused persons were the main source of leaking the Physics question paper and incriminating items including mobile phones were seized from their possession.
Investigation of the case is in full swing and examination of more evidence and witnesses to identify all responsible persons and establish the facts surrounding the case is necessary, the APP said and prayed the Court to remand all three of them in judicial custody for smooth investigation of the case.
The Court, after hearing the submission of the APP and on perusal of the case record, remanded the accused persons in judicial custody till March 24 .
Notably, the three accused were arrested on March 5 following the arrest of two other teachers on March 4 by a team of Cyber Crime police station.
The two were identified as Ningombam Jagdish (33) s/o Bidyashwar of Thoubal Okram and Maibam Sunil (33) s/o Ibomcha of Nepra Company Makha Leikai, Thoubal who is also a Physics teacher at Paradise English School, Thoubal.
Ningombam Jagdish and Maibam Sunil are presently lodged in Manipur Central Jail, Sajiwa from March 7 in connection with the same Physics question paper leak case.
