Governor visits flood victims

Imphal, June 06 2024:
Governor Anusuiya Uikey visited flood affected families sheltering in the relief camp at Hostel No 2, Khuman Lampak Sports Complex and enquired after their grievances.
She was accompanied by Khumanthem Diana, DC Imphal East and Bobby Waikhom, Secretary to Governor during the visit, said a statement issued by the Governor's Secretariat.
Around 138 people (24 families) have been taking shelter in the relief camp since last week.
The Governor also distributed drinking water packages and emergency lamps to the families in the camp.
After enquiring about their grievances, the Governor said that the State had witnessed a natural disaster and all out efforts have been made to extend assistance to the affected people.
She added that the Chief Minister and the Chief Secretary have been directed to take steps to extend immediate relief to the families.
District administrations have also been asked to assess the situation and to conduct a survey of the affected families, she maintained.
Consoling the people, she assured to extend all possible assistance from Raj Bhavan and from the State Government.
On the way back to the Raj Bhavan, she inspected the flood affected areas at Nagaram where she met with NDRF personnel and expressed appreciation for their efforts in reaching out to the flood affected people in Imphal.
