Imphal, October 05 2025:
Taking a swipe at the BJP, former Chief Minister Okram Ibobi has stated that he feels embarrassed as an MLA seeing a group of BJP MLAs travelling to Delhi to request the establishment of a popular Government in Manipur.
Addressing a programme organized by the Patsoi Block Congress Committee, Ibobi, also the CLP leader, stated that the Congress, during its tenure in Manipur, never sought to plead with the Central leaders to form a Government unlike the BJP.
Today Lok Sabha MP Dr Angomcha Bimol Akoijam launched a 'Vote Chor-Gaddi Chor' signature campaign in line with Rahul Gandhi's Nationwide initiative at Taobungkhok Awang Leikai.

He also claimed that the BJP has been running a tyrannical Government by suppressing freedom of speech and expression.
Further claiming that the BJP Government has been withholding Urban Local Body, Panchayat, and ADC elections by appointing individuals they can influence at the grassroots level through Administrative Committees, he alleged that the BJP has rendered democracy meaningless.
The BJP must be removed from power to safeguard democracy, he declared.
Saying that the economy of Manipur is in a critical state akin to a patient in the ICU, the former Chief Minister added that the conduct of BJP MLAs, despite the dire situation, is utterly undesirable.
Numerous development projects were successfully taken up under the PMGSY during the Congress regime but BJP has been unable to effectively implement the subsequent phases of the road infrastructureprojects, he said.
Ibobi warned that the PMGSY projects in Manipur risk cancellation due to the misallocation of project funds for other purposes.
Ibobi, meanwhile, praised former Patsoi AC MLA AK Mirabai as a leader committed to serving the people.
Dr Bimol also spoke at the event.
He stated that the 'Vote Chor, Gaddi Chor' campaign seeks to oust the BJP from power across India.
Asserting that the BJP cannot succeed, even with money and muscle power without public support, the MP urged the people to deliver a resounding lesson to the party for all the wrongs they have committed.
He stated that Manipur is among the five States with the highest unemployment rates, and inflation in the State is also among the highest in the country.
AICC secretary in charge of Manipur Christopher Tillak, Khundrakpam AC MLA Th Lokeshwar and ex MLA AK Mirabai also attended the programme among others.
