CORE urges to probe 'misconduct'

Imphal, April 01 2025: The Centre for Organisation Research & Education (CORE) has written to the Chief Secretary to urge the Manipur Human Rights Commission (MHRC) to investigate how mere verbal discussions were held between Law Department officers and some MHRC staff regarding the use of five staff at MMDR, without officially informing the MHRC Secretary.

In a letter, CORE demanded that the enquiry holds accountable those responsible for 'this gross misconduct' .

CORE further urged the Chief Secretary to direct the Superintendent of Police, Vigilante and Anti Corruption to ensure prompt, impartial and transparent investigation to find out how Nungshitombi Athokpam, Under Secretary cum Assistant Registrar, was working as Drawing and Disbursing Officer of MHRC from December 12, 2018, to December 20, 2018, despite another Under Secretary cum Assistant Registrar already holding the same position since October 2018 .
