26th Martyrdom Day of Capt Kenguriise observed

Indian Army and Assam Rifles observed the 26th Memorial Day of Maha Vir Chakra (Posthumous) awardee Captain Neikezhakuo Kenguriise, the 'Hero of Nagaland', who made the supreme sacrifice during the Kargil War in 1999, at a memorial ceremony held at Kenguriise War Memorial, Nerhe Phe-zha, Kohima district, Nagaland, on Saturday.
In a release, PRO Defence informed that the event was attended by Inspector General Assam Rifles (North), Major General Manish Kumar, as the chief guest, along with the parents of the braveheart, Neiselie Kenguriise, and his wife, other family members, villagers, veterans and ex-servicemen from Wokha and Kohima, personnel from the Indian Army and Assam Rifles, Kohima SP, civil dignitaries, and students from Don Bosco School, Chi-ephebozou, Fernbrook School Wokha, G Rio Higher Secondary School Kohima, and Assam Rifles Public School, Chieswema.
Floral tributes were paid to the martyr, with the chief guest laying the ceremonial wreath, followed by the lighting of the Amar Jawan Jyoti.
A special documentary film showcasing the inspiring life and valour of Captain Neikezhakuo Kenguriise was screened for the audience.
As a special gesture, personnel from 2 Rajputana Rifles, Captain Kenguriise's battalion, and 5/5 GR from the Kargil region, where the battle was fought, shared pleasantries with his parents as a mark of respect.
The release further informed that girl cadets of 1 Naga Battalion, Kohima, and ex-service-men presented a march past accompanied by pipe band performances from Fernbrook School and Assam Rifles.
A special felicitation was also held to honour the parents of Captain Kenguriise for their strength and their son's enduring legacy.
As a symbol of service beyond the battlefield, Neiselie Kenguriise inaugurated the 'Captain N Kenguriise, MVC Medical Camp', a community outreach initiative by Assam Rifles to serve the local populace in memory of the fallen hero.
He also unveiled a biography of Captain Kenguriise titled Nimbu Saab, co-authored by his elder brother, Neingthoulie Kenguriise.
