BAAL opposes Yaoshang, poll activities

Bishnupur Akoiba Apunba Lup (BAAL) on Sunday appealed to the people to forego festivities related with the Yaoshang festival and the ensuing Lok Sabha election, in solidarity with those affected by the on-going conflict in the state.
In a press meet at its office, BAAL vice president Kh Dharjit Singh appealed to the people under the jurisdiction of the Lup to abstain from organising feast, Thabal Chongba, collection of money etc., related to the Yaoshang festival this year as well as merriment in the ensuing 18th Lok Sabha election.
Owing to the ongoing conflict prevailing since May 3, 2022, many are suffering and economy of the state badly affected, he noted while expressing that as there is no guarantee that the ensuing election would be free from violence, all should focus on addressing woes of those affected by the conflict.
The press meet was also attended by BAAL president L Devchand, secretary T Bikram, Women's Wing vice president O Bina Deyi and some members.
